Can I make a cover for an aquarium 10 gallon timber?

Hello everyone, I wondered if I could make a wooden lid tight for my aquarium 10 gallons. I have a female rat that I would like to put there, for now, because I think she might be pregnant. The have a little over two weeks from a friend who I met online and he said he does not believe she is pregnant, although the rat was in a tank with a male rat for two days, but she said she saw nothing … (not so sure about that because her belly is getting very large). Anyway, I have lots of wood and wondered if I could make a cover out of it, cut a hole for the water bottle that I can slide into a hole and yes. Also many of drilling holes in breathing, etc. So what do you think? An idea can be done or not? I was thinking of wood, as it would be able to fit on top of the tank because of the cornices that are inside … any other idea of how to make a lid would be nice.
