Will I be able to grow plants with standard aquarium lighting?
There seems to be a lot of contradictory opinions on the web so I was wondering about the experiences of people here …. I bought my BF a standard gallon aquarium starter kit 10 that comes with a 15-watt bulb Fluorescent …. I also bought a Java moss, a melon sword Anubias go in there ….. Do you think that is enough light? Would you be able to improve otherwise your bulb? Lemme know whatcha think …. Thanks a lot
I have a similar tank and the three types of plants do well, but not a better bulb going to hurt. Be sure and pick up a couple of catfish suckermouth dwarf – Otocinclus affinis as they do a great job with the algae and not "crowd out" the tank. Just remember to work through the day / night cycle (14/10 I usually do), but you will notice how plants should operate and adjust accordingly. I hope it goes well
