If the mixture of salt now or wait for the live arena to settle?
I'm starting a gallon saltwater aquarium 55. I added the sand live first and then filled the tank with water. After this was read in a book that should have done this in reverse order. Now the water is very cloudy. My questions are: Is this a really great deal I did in that order? Should I wait for the water to settle before adding salt? Should I wait water to settle before turning on the filter? Any other suggestions?
Add the salt with a suitable salinity as soon as possible. Fresh water will kill the live arena. Apart from that not really a big problem, the sand will eventually settle, it just might take a day or two. I allow the sand to solve several hours before starting the filter, but you do not, the need to wait for the process well. T We note that the live arena is just that … live. Try the same as you would a fish. Appropriate salinity and temperature, as well as filtering soon. MM
