Simple and effective solutions to algae aquarium
Eradication of encrusting algae could be done simply by periodically scraping the sides of washing aquarium rocks.
For those with plastic plants and a completely white gravel bed, the situation could be more work, since it would necessary to bleach the rocks to remove all traces of algae.
However, if you do this, make sure you rinse the gravel thoroughly afterwards. Chlorine is highly toxic and even small amounts can have a dramatic effect on the aquarium fish.
Since the main cause of green algae is too much light. The first step in the treatment program should be light reduction then partial water changes and an adequate stocking with natural aquarium plants. Treatment algae final appeal must ensure that the problem is eradicated and is at least hold off for a while.
One of the factors mentioned above is the use of natural aquatic plants as a means of algae control. This is actually more effective than many people think.
For starters, the luxuriant growth filter plant is part of the light keeping algae under control. In addition plants absorb a variety of chemicals in water, thereby starving algae of some of essential nutrients such as nitrates (not nitrites).
Surprisingly, an adequate stocking at the plant level is approximately 50 plants small square root of available space.
The treatment I mentioned is the use of an algaecide. I emphasize the word "use" is very different to "abuse"!
However, despite this difference, I know that some people still persist in pouring the chemical cure in your aquarium and wait the problem to disappear overnight, even though they have not done anything to alter the conditions in the tank that caused the problem in the first place.
The conditions has been said that attach to any lasting effect to occur! Now that we know how to stop the threat of green algae, in another article I will talk about it is ugly "Sister" brown algae (the brown encrusting algae whose case is the opposite of green algae).
