The creation of an aquarium fish tank
It can be fun to create an aquarium tank, but as with all hobbies that is worth doing some research before starting. Before buying any fish that need to cycle the tank properly to ensure there is enough bacteria to cope with the waste products of fish. We recommend a fishless cycling method described below.
Choosing Tank
aquarium fish tank can be purchased glass or acrylic. glass tanks are cheaper, are heavier and sometimes spring leaks. Acrylic tanks are more expensive, rarely leak come in a variety of forms, but it scratches easily. acrylic tanks usually last longer than glass tanks.
Form fish tank
acrylic tanks come in a variety of ways including cylinder, hexagon, octagon, round, and the traditional rectangular shape. There are also tanks tank wall and the coffee table. The traditional rectangular shape is still the best though, as the volume of water to the surface is an exchange of gas to give the highest good. For other forms, with a smaller volume of water to the surface of these containers, the maintenance will be higher and more frequent water changes if necessary.
Generally buy the largest tank that fits in which place and what you can afford. A larger tank requires less maintenance and can fit in more fish without running the risk of overcrowding.
Fishless cycling method
Requirements
Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate test strips
Bacteria from an established tank culture – this can be a filter material or a bit of gravel
Alternatively, you can use as a commercial preparation Settle by Dr. Foster & Smith or by Marineland Biospira
Unscented ammonia
Method
After adding the bacterial culture his new creation, add 5 drops tank of ammonia for every ten gallons of water. Test for ammonia. If the records do not add a drop to get a little more reading. Continue adding the same amount every day until you can detect nitrite in the tank. Now add half the amount of ammonia per day until records of nitrate in the tests with the strip. At this point the nitrite levels should begin to decrease. On reaching zero the tank is cycled. Make a water change 30% and ready to fish.

Carefully inspect the fish tanks in the store animals to ensure that the fish appear healthy and no dead fish in tanks. Investigation of fish that you buy carefully and check up on your requirements temperature and water quality. Tropical fish have a higher temperature than goldfish. Some fish are relatively peaceful when young, but they are thugs when are well developed. Tiger barbs are good examples of these.
Always avoid overcrowding. You will need a larger tank for larger fish. For angelfish never use a smaller tank than ten gallons. After entering the fish never buy from an established tank, but the quarantine in a separate tank at least a week to ensure not introduce pathogenic organisms in you tank.
