How much cost LED accessories 180gal saltwater aquarium? are better than metal halide?
What are the differences?
Go with the halides. The LEDs are very expensive and are equivalent if not slightly less efficient when compared with the most halide. The LEDs are said to be better, but we take a light meter and compared both with the sales rep in our store. LED support we tested had to be better than a 400-watt halide fixture. We sales representative to set the LED on our tank, same distance from the water and took a light meter and compared the two on the surface of the tank. The LED is not surprising OK, but 400 watt halides beat them. The halide was compared with roughly half the price, so in my opinion, the LEDs are cool, you can be programmed to sunrise and all that fun, but equivalent halides was best for keeping SPS, since it had the Highter lux and are actually cheaper. Also with the halide bulbs can replace and retain a greater resale value.
