would be bad to keep guinea pigs in a glass aquarium?

tank is 5 feet long and very large 2 feet wide, the top is open and I intend to keep two small guinea pigs in it. I just wanted to know if there was a reason that the cages sold in stores cables have spaces between them?

Unfortunately, unless the tank is several feet wide and rectangular, not enough ventilation, and guinea pigs can having breathing problems. The wire cages are to allow air flow and make sure the ammonia from urine is not too strong for them. It is also difficult know what size is a piggy bank as an adult. Most end up about 2 pounds, there is little piggies as dwarf hamsters are not less than are runts. If you can find another cage with a better air flow, which would be best. Just make sure you have a solid bottom, however – a wire bottom break their toes, feet or legs.
