How to start a small tank of 10 gallons of seawater and fish with only two fish and some live rock?
I'm getting a tank larger for my freshwater fish and I was thinking about trying something new and want to know how to start a small saltwater aquarium? I will choose the best answer! 
Here's the answer I gave to another person. 10 gallons will be difficult to maintain! You have to keep salinity (int salt water) in the amount parameters properly and so small that you will have difficulties during changes of water. You need to clean the tank out. You need the water cycle. We use one RO (reverse osmosis) for water to remove pollutants. We put it int he tank and you have to stop circulating about a month, making control Standing on the salt and all the nitrates and phosphates (you can buy a test kit either online or at a local petstore). Once it is cycled, then you can add live rock. Stop the cycle by a week and then get some cleaning crew (a few shells, a crab, maybe a starfish .. usually around 1 per gallon) .. After leaving the tank cycle for about 2 months without worries, without nails, and have by heart how to make water changes (50% each week during the first month, then there is a 10% after every 2 weeks), then you can add a clown fish. It's a lot of hard work. Its not something that can be configured overnight. Good luck, but Id say save money and invest in a bigger tank as the clownfish prefer to be in a couple and have an anemone home and if you get an anemone, you cannot really get any other fish or bite them. (sorry for the clown fish to the Dude others, but the same principle applies) – also needs a lighting adequate to do their research, especially if you have live rock and coral. They need more lighting than the average aquarium. You can move more than a few hundred dollars just to get it started and about 100 a month to maintain. Its an expensive hobby
