Should I put more neon tetra fish in my tank?
I have a 10 gallon tank with 4 neon tetra fish, a bottom feeder(algea eater), and 2 black mollys. And I know that tetras like to group together, so would they be happier if I put more in there? Like, maybe 2 more?
In about a year or so, i’m probably going to upsize my tank, maybe to a 15 or 20 gallon.
In a ten gallon tank wit only that many fish, you should be able to add several more tetras. The general rule of thumb is usually one inch for every gallon of water, which means two 5 inch fish in a 10 gal, ten 1-inch fish in a ten gal, etc. With tetras, though, you shouldn’t have any trouble adding up to four more. It would make them happier as they like groups and it shouldn’t overcrowd your tank in the least.
