Is it safe to put clam shells in your tank?
i would wash them down and scrub them before putting them in. is that safe for the fish? its a freshwater tank by the way…my fish just love hidy holes like shells and they are basically free for the taking and still look nice. thanks!
They won’t dissolve and they are not “bad” for your fish. the problem with adding shells of any kind it will increase the PH of your tank. Depending on the types of fish you have that it could raise the PH to 8 or better. Just be careful how many you add to your tank. You will want to test the PH in the tank around 5 days after adding the shells. Other than than they are fine to add to the tank.
