Fish/Maintence. 30 gallon. need help quick?
I have my own aquarium. Although I know how to maintain it and do more work, I do not know how simple and basic a 30 gallon octagon tank would be.
Here it goes
My uncle, Doesn’t have much to do. Got a 30 gallon for free. Wants something to look at, easy to maintain. And honestly I don’t think many aquariums are easy to maintain if you want one that you will love. it will be easy to maintain in your mind. But he really needs EASY TO MAINTAIN.
This is for a freshwater. Basic chemicals? stress coating, water clarifier to get the chlorine out etc. Anything else?
What type of fish for the 30 gallon? That you can feed them one thing, they are pretty looking, and are easy. I want him to be happy. But also have it be easy for him.
filter,heating,lighting,guages its all there. Just need to know what fish, hopefully plentiful as in up to 8?
Are neon tetras ruled out for this since the tank may be to big and overwhelming for this?

water conditioner [I use Nov-Aqua+ but I've used Jungle in the past]
Neon tetras: No, in a group they’re fine. With 6 buddies or more, they’d be just fine in a big tank.
And you can get live plants [I get low light plants as they're WAYY easier to mantain]
Fish:
Any kind of tetra basically [rummy nose, black skirt, bleeding heart, lemon, cardinal, diamond head, glowlight, neon, etc]
Maybe some platys/mollies/swordtails [get one species or get two but like have at least 3 of each]
Corydoras [4+]
And if you want you can add a betta, Just saying.
And most tanks are easy to mantain. You just do weekly water changes [take 25-40% of the water out and replace it] and you “clean the tank” by siphoning the gravel bi weekly.
