why dont my cory fish and pleco eat?
My corys and pleco won’t eat, they do search the graval, decorations and fake plants but most likey the goldfish have ate everything already. I just bought the 6 gallon tank with a bio wheel filter 3 days ago, I bought goldfish the same day and 3 cory and 1 pleco on the 2nd day. The goldfish eat flakes that I mash up into smaller pieces and I feed the pleco and corys Nutrafin – Staple Food Tablets – Fish food for all bottom feeding tropical fish. The length of the 3 cory fish are only 1.5 inches and the pleco is 2 inches and the gold fish are 2 inches long. They seem to be scared or shy to go near the tablets and I keep trying to feed them and that led to my tank being foggy already! Do you think they are getting enough nutrients from just scavenging the new tank?

Hi MicroNap, I’m guessing you have been the unwitting victim of poor pet store advice. Sorry to tell you but unless you act immediately you will have a tank full of dead fish. Your tank is way overstocked with incompatible fish. The Goldfish are seriously at risk of getting their slime coats nibbled by the Pleco at night which may lead to all manner of ailments. You are also feeding them way too much & your tank is getting seriously polluted as a consequence. The reason your fish are not eating is simply because they are stressed, not only by the poor water conditions but they are all getting used to their new environment.
You need 2 x 20 gallon, filtered, lidded tanks. Put your Corys & Pleco in one tank & your Goldfish in the other. If this is not possible then I strongly suggest you return either the Goldfish or the other 3 but the minimum size of tank you need is 20 gallons, if the shop told you the 6 gallon was suitable then return that too because they sold you something they knew to be totally unsuitable for it’s intended purpose, ie they lied to you.
