Fish Tank Heater 50w

What type of heater for my siamese fighting fish tank?

My tank is probably about 1.5 L and i was just wondering how many watts should a heater for that tank be?? Is 50W ok?

In a small tank, a heater will cycle on and off quickly, causing the heater to wear out prematurely. Usually the frequent cycling causes the heater to stick in the ON position, cooking the fish. 25 watts is right sized for a ten gallon tank. The more over sized the heater, the sooner it can wear out because of the the cycling issue, and the higher the temperature will go when the thermostat seizes up.

Warming up the room the tank is in, or using a ten gallon tank with about five inches of water in it, and a 25 watt submersible heater will be safer.
