what is a temp gun, and how does it work?
how does a temp gun monitor water temperatures in a fish tank? Do you have to touch the water, or just point it at the water? And does it work better than a digital thermometer? Sorry for all the q’s!
you point it at the tank or water. it measures infared waves, which are proportional to temperature. it is ‘digital’ itself. the ‘guns’ I have seen have a pretty wide temperature range and they probably are not as accurate of a thermometer or other temperature measuring device with a small range. also, the gun assumes an emissivity which may not be apptopriate for water/glass. check one against a known goo thermometer to see if it is any good for aquarium temp.
