will my fish provide enough co2 for my aquarium plants?
i know this is a wierd setup but my brother couldnt take care of his tank so he picked the fish so now i got it. its 3 zebra danios, 3 black neon tetras and 3 albino tiger barbs. also 2 oto catfish in a 14 g aquarium. again, dont blame me. will they provide co2 for my lightly planted aquarium?
It really depends on what you consider a lightly planted aquarium is. If you have low maintenance plants, chances are your co2 levels are fine. Plants only utilize nutrients as much as their limiting factor allows them to. One nutrient plants need, for example, is nitrate. If you do not have any nitrate in your tank but excess co2, the excess co2 will do nothing. If you find that your plants are not growing well, you can make your own DIY co2 injector. Put water, sugar, and a pinch of yeast in a water bottle. Then drill a hole on the cap and attach airline tubing+an airstone to it, and the yeast will produce the co2 for you. Also, it’s a good idea to get fertilizers to provide macro and micro nutrients for your plants. Seachem flourish is a good liquid fertilizer.
