Are fish tank air pumps hard to maintain?
i have two five g. tanks and wanted to know if air pumps (mostly for decoration) are hard to keep, maitain, or get
Nope, they are really easy to get, setup, and maintain. You will need to buy: the air pump itself, airline tubing, a check valve (so the water doesn’t siphon out the airline in the pump turns off, and an air stone or bubble curtain. To setup just open up everything cut the airline tubing to the length you need then cut it into two pieces and attach the check valve with the arrow pointing toward the end of the tubing that will attach to the air stone or curtain then attach the other end of the tubing to the airline pump. Then you have to put the air stone/curtain in the tank and cover it w. gravel or whatever. Then you let it sit for 1 hour then plug in the pump and watch the fun bubbles. As far as maintenance it is a good idea to replace the tubing and air stone/curtain after a year or so and the pump when it wears out. Other than that you can just pull it out once a month or so and rinse it with water if it gets gunky.
