No. The reaction that takes place in the bottle does nothing to impact the growth of bacteria in the tank or dioxide carbon it produces. What was used to test the tank? The test strips are almost nothing (you might as well just draw a number from a hat), and testing even liquids may be inaccurate at times. I try again. Also, what were the levels of nitrite before and for how long have you had the presence of nitrite in the tank? If more than one week, you can cycle over and all the nitrite is converted to nitrate. EDIT It just means that the tank has a cycle, is a good thing. If the bacteria were starved for CO2 reactor, which is large amounts of ammonia and nitrite are not. Nothing to worry about.
