When I add more fish to my aquarium biOrb cycling?
I have a fish in it to start the process of cycling, its only the second day of cycling. I tested the water this morning and the readings read: Nitrite = 0.5 Nitrate = 20 pH = 7.0 unfortunately I have no ammonia tester. I have another tank (tank of my age) still has some cloud miinows him waiting to go in my new tank when possible. I tested this tank and the readings say Nitrite0.5 Nitrate80 pH7.0 please bare in mind that these fish in the tank of age are well and healthy so that the tank has cycled properly. So when I add my 4 little fish cloud his new biOrb tank? Any help is appreciated thanks
You do not have to cycle a tank with fish, because it is inhumane and very harmful to them. You can add a dash of fish scales in the world every 12 hours and test. It's really better to get an ammonia test kit and know where the tank in the cycle. Typically, the nitrogen cycle takes anywhere from 3-6 weeks to cycle (dry), however, if you already have the fish and that cycling will have to perform daily water changes of 25-50 percent (no more than that) and this will slow the process. So the fish that probably have a maximum of 8-week cycle. EDIT: Also, if the old tank has nitrite in water, then that means the tank is not completely a bike. Moreover, your nitrates are too high and should keep them at 20 ppm or less vaccing through gravel and partial water changes. If you use tap water to rinse the media or replace filter every month, do not do more. A very significant part of the beneficial bacteria live in the filter media and if you wash in running water (that has chlorine in chloramine) or just to spoil, then the good bacteria that spirals and tipping in a mini cycle.
