Is it necessary to add a table to support my tank?
I recently purchased this position ten gallon tank from Petco: http://www.petco.com/product/13738/Penn-Plax-Aquarium-Tank-Stand-10-Gallon.aspx As you can see it is hollow in the center with only a 2-inch border. Is it necessary to add a table top or can I set up the right to be in it? Can the glass-bottomed aquarium with all the water without support in the middle?
The post is more than enough. Because of the way of the tanks are built, the glass rests not about something to put under it, so a table, while great in theory, provide no support. Bottom of the tank, unlike the sides, are made of tempered glass, which is incredibly strong (which is also used in the windshield of the car) and can contain a surprising amount of weight, especially given distribution.
