What type of filtration system I use for my 55 gallon aquarium?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there could help me choose a good filtration system for my 55g aquarium. Is currently empty, but I'm ready to spend it. My plan is to have some driftwood small logs and branches, flat river rocks and more caves square, a nice thick planting of aquatic plants and tropical fish of 10 + small community. So … with all that, what would be a good filter for an aquarium with all this. It would be a blockage in the filter anything with all these things there? And what is a good way to clean the gravel with all these obsticles? Thanks in advance!
If you are planning on using live plants, do not go with a filter plate. I would like use a lock rated for 300 gallons per hour (about 6 times the tank volume). If you go with plastic plants, you can use only the undergravel filter and will work great. Personally, I prefer live plants and the use of a wait. Also, if you do, make a very easy to CO2 generated with a 2-liter bottle, sugar, yeast, water and plants are much better (be sure to spend the money on a bulb that will encourage good plant growth.)
