Question about cleaning an aquarium?
when I do a water change with the siphon Is it okay if I did not touch the gravel and only remove the water? I do this for two reasons 4. 1. I shrimp Amman that are transparent and do not want to accidentally suck oe 2. I heard the gravel trap or eliminate bacteria in the gravel. and you need two bacteria change ammonia to nitrite then nitrite to nitrate. so do what I do well?
It is best to remove a stick or gravel or any other thing that the waste never get out. You must have enough bacteria accumulated in the filter. I read that divert too well can alter the cycle, but also I have read otherwise. I guess with fish keeping much that sometimes what works best for you. But I would say you should divert the gravel, just try to locate the Amano shrimp before you start, or keep an eye out for them. You only need to be careful.
