Why is filtration Aquarium as hot a topic

The marine aquarium hobby was once seen as very difficult, very expensive, and they need a touch magic. The first two were good, but not the last, that simply the way it seemed unlikely anyone in the hobby, but maybe with a splash knowledge. There was very little knowledge of the needs of marine life in captivity, and for the most part (the biggest part of most) only very tough life in a very small number survived for long, and usually measured in months.

I can only see the sense discussed pioneer marine aquarists on the best way to proceed. If they could see us now, his flabber would certainly spend.

The first real breakthrough came filtration with filter under the gravel. I hang my head in shame that I forget the fans who made it, but a plaque was placed under the sand and water is pumped through it to maintain clean sand. Maintain physical cleanliness is. However, after a while it felt that life was to survive for a long time, much longer than usual. So experimentation occurred with the same results. Eventually, the reason was obtained for the extended life of livestock (a scientist perhaps?) And, of course, the reason was that an 'army' of ammonia and nitrite destroy bacteria had been established. Despite my meager knowledge of the event (I'm not that old!) I remember that the fan does not think the answer to keep marine life could be so simple, he still believed it was because the sand was clean.

Anyway, the door was open. suitable for filtration marine life had come, or at least live fish in general. This must have caused a jump in the desire to maintain the Marines, and indeed the fans thereafter opened and a vast expansion.

Jump forward a decade (great when you can travel in time), look at us now! The under gravel filter continued in popularity for quite some time, but now that marine aquarium keeping was much more Popular had a greater number of innovative minds wondering if they could "do better" and, of course, commercial manufacturers became interested, first team under-taxed, and then the filter housing equipment and adequate facilities for the Marines. From there the fans have taken a leap forward. At present there are very efficient protein skimmers (which helps water quality are), biological 'towers drip denitrators reactors, anti-phosphate systems recharge water level, calcium reactors, etc. Sea water quality in the modern saltwater aquarium incredibly good compared to what was not done so long.

The final decision has been to the natural filtration techniques. modern marine aquarists consider it the best, this is what nature does what is considered to lead to follow. The obvious example is 'live' roll, all the bacteria, making the job that the former under-gravel filter used to do, but doing much better – not used properly, even gets rid of nitrates. Then there is the DSB (deep sand bed), full (in relief OSD) Other examples of the nature way. Very good and successful too.

As the above you can see why filtering is a hot topic, although it depends angle of the fan is coming.

There are fans who may or may not have tried different filtering techniques, but now they have one that has worked very well for them. Your fish and corals are a sight to behold. Water quality is very high, and certainly have done so. They often argue vehemently that combination of filtration and filtration is best. Okay, so they think. The truth is that there could be another aquarist using different methods and get good results. They will not accept a discussion!

Then there are the more serious fans. They also have beautiful aquariums, usually filtered through the rock and often linked to a sump with a DSB in etc. Maybe the use of algae (Caulerpa) to improve filtration. Perhaps the use of other media. What do is keep up with new ideas and emerging technologies can be used to improve their systems. Of course, they will debate and discuss the potential benefits or of new filtering equipment etc.

Then there are the hobbyists who are not really leaders content only to make a grand display of coral in captivity. They wonder if there is a new way to improve their systems. There is already a display tank, of course, and a drain connected to a DSB and probably Caulerpa. Some attach another area in total darkness is permanent, so that some sponges and other life forms of filtering can be developed. Other experiments are being performed. One fan even leaders praised the qualities potential benefits of Aiptasia anemones. These anemones usually the average fan to take the offensive. But that is considered their filtering capacity if allowed to multiply and grow. Anything that does not spread from the designated area is controlled. However, the propagation presumably designated area will be controlled by food supply. I can see aquarists to argue about that!

All this is an effort to make the aquarium display as a natural system as possible, which minimizes interference from amateurs. It is my opinion that will always be some interference and action for the fan like no matter how big the aquarium system, compared with their wild counterparts is very small.

So advanced marine aquarium. From the newcomer experience is only the investigation of appropriate methods and systems available to the pioneer who is adding another experimental area of an advanced, no debate and discussion. The absolute beginner can puzzle and discuss a filtering system when it appears, at least theoretically, to be "better" than another. The highly advanced amateur or pioneering technique can discuss in depth about the merits of the latest developments potential filtering techniques. All those in the middle, most can discuss and argue about almost any type of filtering in general.

It is a hot topic, filtration. It should be. Is an essential part of a successful aquarium, healthy and vibrant. It is also the way forward, all this discussion, argumentation and experimentation. It is also one of the things that make this hobby of ours so fascinating.
