How do I clean the sand of the aquarium?
hey im going to get sand for my tank and was wandering how I clean it? gravel is used siphon hose, but if you use this sand that sucks woudn't it? thnx
Get a bucket. Pour a little sand, about half way. Get your hose and fill it with water. All debris and these rise to the surface of the water, then slowly pour the water. Repeat this process until the water runs clear, at least one good 6-8 times. Then add the sand to your tank. To clean the tank, use your gravel vacuum. But instead of digging down into the sand and gravel is only type wave on the top of the sand and excrement and other wastes get sucked. You will receive a small amount of sand, but not much. If you go too, then it is too close to the bed of sand. In addition, if you have not read this, no more than an inch of sand on the bottom. When it gets too deep, a toxic gas can build up underneath. I'm not sure exactly what can happen, I've heard it explodes or simply kill the fish. use simple, once a month when carrying out one of their weekly water changes, use your finger or the handle end of his fishing and run through the sand, especially in the deeper parts.
