Of silk or plastic: artificial plants that are best for my tank and why?

Edit: I already have some live plants, but my goldfish love to eat anything, but the stronger plants, so I'm trying to complete with several fakes.
Silk plants virtually impossible to clean off algae and decay time in water. Plastic lasts longer, is easier to clean (even for algae eating fish because of its smooth surface). No health reason (as regards fish) not to use silk plants, but will be very expensive to replace. They begin to look quite nasty quite quickly.
