You can, in small quantities. Although not the traditional NaCl, the other minerals in sea salt are mostly composed of calcium magnesium, potassium and other minerals that fish can actually use. There are some others that fish can not come into contact with nature (strontium, molybdenum), these are present only in trace elements. Because I do not know what the effect of these will be in freshwater fish in the longer term, I would not recommend their use at all times, would OK to use occasionally – once used a mixture of synthetic sea salt in freshwater tanks after a move and none of the fish died. The usual dose is 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of water.
