Aquarium lighting problems?
I have a 60 gallon tank. The bulb is made by GE Lighting is an Aqua Fresh & Light Rays tube saltwater aquarium. The specifications are: Lumens = 950 watts = 20 Life = 9000 hours / h CRI / IRC = 67 Kelvin = 9.325 length = 24 "The problem is that if I have my plants directly under the light received as the leaves brown, yellow and clear, even. I would like to have plants on the sides of my tank, but as stated, they want to prosper long. If I put in the center where the light pipe is, not grow but will remain a constant height. I'm in the process of saving money so you can get a better light fixture, and now I only have a maximum of 20 watts and that's not even one watt per gallon of light for my tank. The only answer I have is to get a better light. Remember that 1 gallon per watt! Java Fern and foxtail well with light out, however, and you could try that. I have a thriving java fern in my tank (the fern is not direct sunlight) with a span of only 40 watts. Hope this helps
