How should I light my aquarium?
I found a light tank that has 3 switches, one for white light, one for blue and one for the night LED light. I must be running the blue and white together or run at different times. And if run together why can not I buy a strip of light of economic double and fluorescent bulbs to replace one white with a blue light bulb?
The way mine is running the blue (actinic) is set to be the 1 hours before white light () then the blue and white stay togather stays blue then an hour after the white is off. My actinic are 10 hours and light 8hrs day. LED actinic follow when they leave and go when they leave. This is to some extent imitate sunrise and sunset. This helps prevent the fish from surprised when the lights come one and gives them time to get to places hidden there at night, when the total off. Running both at the same time creates a more sepctram natural color of light to run in daylight and only tends to give everything a yellow color. Also the blue light waves penetrate deeper into the tank than others. Are you running florecents compact or just regular florecents. If you are running compact florecents get much more light per watt of a fluorescent regular is the diffrence in the equipment you have and a strip of dual pricing. Also make sure you have the bulbs in the correct positions on the fixture. The bulbs off daylight much more heat than actinics and if they are made to be in positions Certina then the cooling fans in general, appear only when the position Summer bulbs are turned on.

We have a small office in the city and the electricity bill is insane. Tell you what, we have tried to turn off the all the electric juice sucking machines, but not really see much of the difference in the bills. But, one day our plaza electrician told me that they are changing all the LED light tubes outside the plaza. Those LED lights look the same as the old light tube but after that we don’t think we see the electrician for months until people complaint about other problems. We tried using the LED light tubes and we are so damn glad we did. We already have the electric bill saving to pay off the LED lights that we got. Awesome product!!!
