I have a Eheim 2322 external filter for my tank, how often should I clean and replace the media and others?
Definitely subjective to the size of the tank and the amount of waste produced. They are essential and bio filters, to some extent the mud more than they have within them, work best. Personally I have a single standard for all my filters. When the output drops, it's time to dismantle. Change the coal when you do, but only the other half rinse in the old tank water. If you change it, that's a colony of bacteria that have caused massive death and the tank will go into a mini cycle. One thing we sometimes forget, pull through pipes. You need a weight that suits, rope and pipe cleaning brush or a rag fine snuff. The pipes are responsible for most of the blockades.
