What kind of reef aquarium hood?
I have a reef tank 55 gallon with some soft corals and a few fish. My problem is that the plexiglass covers quickly covered with mist, and finally, a salt crust. The result is that a large amount of light is being absorbed and scattered instead of entering the tank. Please offer suggestions on a better bell configuration: 1 – do not fog up quickly 2 – allow good light penetration 3 – Do not let expensive to get my fish to death
All We recommend using a glass instead of acrylic. They make glass tops that flip open for easy access glue and come with a handle that can be pasted into. These are really great! I think they are called Versa-tops. For a 55gal (long style) should be able to get two bells 24in glass if yours is the guy with the bridge that connects at the top, or even make a long and solid 48in type if yours does not have the bridge. There are too expensive and always can be purchased online for a better deal than they cost in fish stores. However, glass tops can still get calcium buildup in time and the need to be scraped with a razor blade every few weeks to a month, but not fog. * I do not actually keep reef aquariums, but I hope that this information can be useful anyway.
