When cycling an aquarium, what do I add chemicals?
I have two gourami in the tank, and read that when cycling 10 to 15% water change should be done every couple of days, but I'm not sure what chemicals to use. I have the coat of stress and ZYME.
Do not add any chemicals other than dechlorinator and water (yes, water is a chemical). The Gouramis will be sufficient to produce ammonia cycle the tank and water changes will be reduced enough to keep them alive. At least every 5 days, you will want to do the water change you suggest. If you already has StressZyme, you might as well add it to see if it helps, but probably not. EDIT: BioSpira only works (still alive) if refrigerated during transport while in the store, which often is not. Unless you can get a hold of the media live in a tank of couples (filter pads, gravel, etc.), you'd be best off just waiting and letting nature take its course.
