Tanks Aquarium Care Guide-New
When starting a new aquarium, it is important to understand the nitrogen cycle. Many aquarium owners another leap in the hobby of fish keeping too quickly. Before purchasing fish, the aquarium must be cycled. This may take twenty-four hours to four weeks. In an aquarium is established there are certain bacteria that help the decomposition of ammonium nitrate, but not present in a new tank, since it generated from Fish exist. If there are no existing fish, then there is good bacteria.
The basic principle of the nitrogen cycle is as follows. Fish eat food and waste. That the waste along with excess eating and converted into ammonia plant debris in the aquarium. Ammonia is toxic to fish and needs to be broken. That's why the nitrifying bacteria is important. This bacteria, turns the ammonia into nitrites, which are more tolerable to fish than ammonia. Then different nitrifying bacteria turn the nitrites into nitrates, which are even less toxic to aquarium fish and the lives of others. The nitrates are collected and minimize the filters, but that eventually accumulate in the tank. The regular water changes are necessary to remove nitrates from water.
It's important to establish and manage a fish aquarium before that are introduced into the environment. Wash the tank and any substrate and water features. Do not use soap. Fill the tank with de-chlorinated water and attach the filters and lighting. Allow the tank to move to the water is no longer cloudy and sufficient PH and water temperature are established.
Now is the time to buy fish! Buy fish tough as danios, barb, gouramis, and live media. They should be able to withstand the levels of nitrite and ammonium high in the new aquarium. Only introduce about four fish at a time. Float the fish in the bag in the aquarium for about fifteen minutes before adding to tank. This will help the fish get used to the water temperature in new home. When you add the fish, being careful not to allow water from the bag into the aquarium. May be contaminated, or will at least get rid of temperature and PH Allow the fish about two hours to acclimate before feeding.
Only feed an amount that can be consumed in the first two to five minutes. Overfeeding is a common problem in an aquarium. It is important not to overfeed, because excess food will become debris adding ammonia levels. This is especially important in new aquariums that lack nitrifying bacteria. Test the pH water every day during the first month. Watch the tank for cloudiness, and if the aquarium becomes cloudy, may be necessary to add a clarifier. Monitor the fish for signs of stress or illness. A healthy fish will swim regularly. lethargic fish usually hovers near the surface of the aquarium. After a change weeks approximately ten percent of the water and begin regular maintenance.
