Can I have a filter under the water with a saltwater aquarium you have sand in the bottom?

Hello Caleb The answer is no. If you have a sand bed without a filter in the gravel. The sand is used to house beneficial bacteria. if sand is used then ensure your bed of sand is at least 2 inches deep.
