How often should I check the pH, nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia levels in my tank of 16 gallons of fresh water?
My aquarium is stocked with: 1 betta, 7 neon tetras, Buenos Aires, 4 tetras and emerald green corie 3. It has a heater and keeps the water temperature around 76 degrees. Also I have a filter outlet. Here is my setup if u want to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OxX5YmU2js
It depends on how time its been up. If you have been up less than a month ago and you did not dry cycle, the test every day. Once the tank is cycled (ammonia consistently 0, consistently nitrite 0, nitrates, always present), which can take up to 2 months, you can try 1-2 times a week. By the way, you have some lovely fish there, you betta is my favorite shade of blue). View Betta with neon, although sometimes a Betta abruptly decided to kill his fellow Neon Tetra aquarium. It always happens, but it would be good to keep an eye out for any aggressive behavior in case.
