Algae in your aquarium – 4 tips to eliminate completely

One of the biggest drops when it comes to owning a fish tank is the accumulation of algae. Unfortunately for the owners of fish, fresh and salt water alike, this is a just a natural reaction in the tank and needs to be cleaned. There are four types different algae you could find yourself wrestling with green, brown, red, green, blue and brush.

Green algae are the most normal type people have to deal with. Usually grows in bright aquariums. For anyone who has had to clean green algae know this is not a fun experience when you are trying scrape the sides of the tank. hair algae are usually floating in the tank and can be cleaned easily with a fishing net. The hard spot green algae take a lot of wash time.

Brown algae usually appear when an aquarium has just begun. This means that phosphate and nitrate levels are out of control. These should be tested and adjusted. The owner might consider adding more light, and brown algae thrive in low light. Allow to brown algae disappear Once the water conditions are controlled.

Red-brush is difficult to treat, but not very common. That only grow in high pH levels. And blue-green algae, well, not really algae. It is a form of bacteria and resembles a sticky film that covers everything. This has to be removed and cleaned immediately, it will damage nothing in the tank the fish plants.

There are different ways to prevent algae, or at least limit the amount of algae that grows in the tank. There can be as neutralized, but at least make the cleaning process go a little easier.

1. Use less illumination. This may seem counterintuitive because of the brown algae grow in low light, but they also need specific water conditions for growth. Use soft lighting or turning off lights after a certain interval, seven and eight hours. This will prevent the algae enough light for photosynthesis.

2. Change the water every two weeks. This inhibits the growth of algae. In addition, rocks vacuum and clean the gravel. You can also use distilled water to change the water as a way to keep algae growth. However, if you use distilled water, you have to do it every time you change the water that could harm the fish if water use different each time.

3. Get algae eating fish. There some fish who just love sucking algae and right sides of the tank, such as some catfish. If you fill your tank with these fish, algae cleaning days come to a minimum.

4. Buy a reliable glass cleaning algae magnet. This will make the process easier when you have to clean and help reduce algae occur between cleanings.

Algae are the least fun of owning fish. However, it needs to be cleaned so that the fish grow. Even if you do own algae eating fish, this should not be an excuse for not cleaning the tank. Check the sides of the tank and any tube or tubes leading into the tank for algae. Can grow in the strangest places.
