the amount of electricity has a 55 gallon aquarium use?
I have a 55 gallon aquarium I want to know the amount of electricity you use and the amount of money per month will cost me to run it. I am running a filter and want to run an air pump connected with an accessory. anyone who can help give me an estimate close enough?
Depends on the computer you are using, and the fixed rate per kilowatt electricity company, but we can try to estimate: The basic formula is: (from energysavers.gov) Wattage × Hours used per day x days in month ÷ 1000 = kilowatt-hour (kWh) consumption (1 kilowatt (Kw) = 1,000 watts) You should take that number and multiply it by your kWh rate to determine your monthly cost. Since we do not know what filter you use, lets make an example a view of the bell: So you say that you are using a 32 watt bulb in your tank for eight hours per day for a month day, 30 32 x 8 x 30 / 1000 = 7.68 kWh per month by the rate of time (let's guess 12 cents), so 7.68 x 0.12 = ~ $ 0.92 per month while its bell 32 W (if that is what you are using) would cost about $ 11 per year on electricity. You can do the same for your filter and air pump once you know the power used on them, but the heater will more complicated and rarely run all the time. I hope that makes sense.
