Does this sound like going to work …?

Ok, so I'm a bit tired of paying for small fish all the time and they always seem to die in the bucket tent. So I was thinking I would get a 10 gallon tank, put some sand and plants, and try to keep and breed them. I know the tank is not large but we will overpopulate not right off the bat. I also have a few tricks still tent out and good luck with what might add some of them, and store bought some bait. I thought I would get some food and a fish aerator to the tank to feed to and help keep them alive. So what do you think? Will or am I a lost cause? Thanks! Please add, if I'm missing something fundamental, or if you have any ideas to help make it work. Please any comment would be incredible. Thanks again!
