What is the cost of starting a 30 gallon saltwater aquarium?
I have a 30 gallon aquarium, I have the gravel, decoration, bell, the light and I am just to see what it would cost for, salt, chemicals, salt water filter, etc.
Hi You can `t have gravel and you do not want tacky decoration in a saltwater aquarium. Marina configurations require coral sand and live rock and some configurations are compatible with reef Corals that require different. Second, most marine deposits do not need a filter, a sump tank that is basically another external connection which acts as a filter and a shelter. This is not a route for the inexperienced amateur, you should do a lot of previous research facility and only once they are 100% sure what they are doing. As for cost, it can cost anything from £ 500 to £ 1000 (Sorry, I am not American and I can not dollars but I think it's about two people). Upcost be an extra £ 15 – £ 30 per month on electricity, about 20 pounds per month in maintenance chemicals and food and two on – 3 hours per week in maintenance and a 10 to 15 minutes a day on maintenance. If you want fish, I recommend keeping tropical fish for a long first time before even attempting to marine. Many people also start configurations without nano marine fish to learn to take care of corals and maintain perfect water conditions. Good luck Deren
