How much water should be changed in my tank a week?
I had a 25-gallon aquarium for two years and have struggled to maintain PH levels. I change 10% of water each week. Only I have 3 platys and a frog in water so there is a lot of waste. I regularly use a powder PH neutral and I also regularly Siphan rocks. Should I change 20% water instead of 10%? I test water for nitrite, nitrate and ammonia regularly and all levels are safe.
Well, this retro sounds, but seriously I think having the tank too clean. This is not necessarily a bad thing. However, a tank healthy fish is a dirty. Let your tank balance itself. Some types of fish change the pH of all yes, and yes it can take a wide range of pH. If the pH is high, No need to worry, only dangerous when the pH is lowered, and below 6.8. Why is a dirty tank healthy? That algae that love to grow in the tank this is a healthy sign of many good bacteria in your tank. You must have that bacteria to handle all the ammonia, and waste accumulate in your tank. If you take a lot of bacteria that good every week especailly form of rocks, is holding your back to balance tank. Not necessarily be balanced at 7.0 nuetral, but give it a shot. Well, Sorry, so until the change of water goes, I recommend changing the water only if there is a problem of health of fish, Otherwise once a month is all thats needed. I had a tank once, I do not change by more than ten months. Yes, it was a lil dirty, but very well balanced. Alls that did was add water. I hope I helped a lil! CHEERS Thank !-!!!
