How often should I change the water in the tank of my 10 gallon aquarium?
Recently bought a 10 gallon tank and put a goldfish sized ryukin there after a day of operation of the leak. I'll add another goldfish ryukin there after 3 days, but this time a small size. Then 3 days later, another small ryukin. Having all 3 goldfishes there, how often should change the water? My plan was to change water 25% every week and 4th week will be 100% more water exchange tank cleaning. Any suggestions on how manage my fish tank properly?
Your tank is essentially too small for 1 goldfish let alone three. And the tank has not gone through the cycle nitrogen – which is 4-6 weeks without fish – but have triggered this by adding the goldfish and I imagine there is a peak of ammonia. You will find the fish or by opening mouth to the surface or sitting on the substrate and can develop black markings dark brown /, then it will die. All tanks need filter changes WEEKLY water. Especially with goldfish. If you want this fish to live need to do daily water changes until the cycle of deposits – which will take a month or so with the fish as you have to continue making changes to keep fish alive. Never make changes to 100% because it destroys any bacteria established. You need at least one tank of 35-40 liters or larger for 3 goldfish. At least 20 gallons for 1 goldfish. Overfiltered.
