2 lights aquarium to keep the plants alive?
I have an aquarium of 56 gallons i only have the light high value on it and it seems that my plants are dying (turning brown) If I pick up a new light so that light bulbs or better? 30 dollars worth of plants a week sucks.
Of lighting values is not usually enough to grow plants. The bulbs do anything special for you except take your money. Daylight bulbs that you can regulate often get in a hardware store plants grow equally well. I would note at 80-100 watts of fluorescent light. That will give you enough to grow plants, but not so much that they will have big problems with algae. You also have to mess with fertilizers or CO2 is maintained around 100 watts or less. You also need to see what you buy at the fish store. Many sites (especially Petco and PetSmart) will sell you for your aquarium plants that are not really aquarium plants. Mondo grass, Brazilian swords, waffles purple, and achorus are some of the most commonly sold. If it appears to be at home growing in the ground, you may not be an aquarium plant.
