What kind of lighting should I use to set up an aquarium of 72 "reef?
My tank is 72 "x12" x18 ". I that is 150 gallons. I'm looking to make a reef tank with fish, coral and anemones. I can not imagine what lighting set up to go with. He ruled halide metal, because they are too hot. So what should I go? I'm looking at 72 "VHO bulbs, but I'm not sure if that is the right way. What I do? Any other advice on the purchase of equipment for tank i could use too. I'm starting with the lights and work my way after that. Thank you.
not specify which species of coral is interested in preserving some species (I'm thinking corals SPS) will require an intensity of light and Rating Kelvin metal halide can only provide, so I suggest you investigate further the potential of corals before deciding on your lighting. saying that, many aquarists have successfully maintain a series of animals within a bank of T5 / VHO tubes, especially the easiest soft corals, LPS or choral to enjoy food as much as the light! All I would say about the creation of a reef is: RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH, what exactly you want to keep? Can you write a list of potential species of fish and invertebrates that you like? can support its requirements and compatibility with a range of books to date and experienced aquarists personal experience? learn about water quality and how to maintain a stable environment. no "maintenance of the fish" or maintenance of coral for that matter, is really "keep the water '! you will not succeed with livestock unless water conditions are so work. saying that, look into the benefits of osmosis RO (reverse) of water. most goodwill aquarists swear by it. always go for the good quality of rock live and have the amount of water movement to bring justice. to have an accurate reading on how the works of living rock, and from there take a decision on its location and training in your aquarium. hear what they have to store personnel say, but do not forget their agendas. they would like to part with money, and what you really need this issue? Yes, a top-up £ 250 Automatic system / cooler / phosphate reactor sure would make life easier … but … Again, here is where planning and research is coming! Remember, a good shop to try to offer honest advice more often not what they want to hear, as it will be in the best interest of its portfolio and its potential for livestock. for example, "no sir, they do not have Moorish idols because …" no two reef aquariums are the same. what works for one person might not work for you. but by understanding some of the ideas of science and chemistry of water can be treated to build a stable environment in the tank for you, instead of going to someone other rumor. marine aquarium can be truly spectacular when well managed and prosperous but remember that most animals in them, and in the hobby in general, have been taken in the wild for you to try to maintain, so that respect for them doing your best to understand and provide for their needs. a fish in an aquarium is a fault in the ocean, and that's not counting all those who have died on the road.
