Is my bulb powerful enough for aquarium plants that require "Moderate Enlightenment?"?
I have a 20 gallon tank fish with a head 18 at 15watts, is powerful enough to support plants that require 2 watts per gallon. I can not find any bulbs 18''W higher, so if you want more watts per gallon, what should I do?
What is minimally adequate depending on what type of fluorescent lamp you have installed. What is needed is white hot, or bulbs designed for plant growth (rich in blue and red). If you check at a hardware store or even a pet shop, searching plant lights "or lamps that simulate natural sunlight. If you can find a bell that has two lamps installed will help. Other factors beyond the light is enough carbon dioxide and the material in which plants are rooted. There are generators of CO2 that can be obtained from a store pets. Some stores carry a specific planting media for aquatic plants. More powerful lamps are available but are expensive and generate enough heat. Drs.
