Green water in the freshwater aquarium?
An ultraviolet light aquarium shop clarify this, or have an underlying problem? I have two Plecos, and about of 20 fish in a 55 gallon tank. I know it is overstocked. I'm trying to reduce some of the population now, but nobody wants to reassign my fish a once they see the tank. No problems with odors, control of water test kit chemicals (no bands) at 6.0 pH, nitrates and nitrites are fine, ammonia is at 0. This problem came up after my BF tried to clean the tank and change 90% water at a time to surprise me on my birthday. Do not lose the fish, thank God no one is stressed, but I like to see the nice clear water again. The filters are "clean" without visible algae. Thanks for the tips.
Check the phosphate, both in the tank and tap water if their high thats why his discomfort with what I believe to algal blooms. Try the "Clearwater" green bags away or phosphate mining also remove nitrites and nitrates. If a UV lamp will help.
